V5 Training Courses

Saratech offers CATIA V5 classes through our partnership with Wichita State University (WSU) and the NIAR CAD CAM Laboratory. These courses are available in Wichita, KS and Irvine, CA facilities.

V5 Part Design & Sketcher

This is the core course of CATIA V5.  This course covers the creation of solid parts without complex contours.  Students will be introduced to the part environment of CATIA V5 and learn how to work between the Sketcher and Part Design workbenches to create individual parts.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to create, constrain and modify sketches; create and modify parts; perform boolean operations on parts; integrate surfaces and apply materials to parts.

V5 Assembly Design

This course covers the use of multiple parts to create an assembly.  It also covers the various analytical and navigation tools that are available within an assembly.  Students will be introduced to the product environment of CATIA V5 and learn how to work with multiple parts between the Assembly Design, DMU Space Analysis and DMU Navigator workbenches.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to insert, manipulate, constrain and modify components in an assembly; work with the links of the assembly; create parts within the assembly structure; perform measurements, clash analyses and section analyses; create scenes and annotated views; capture pictures and create xml files for external use and utilize all of the navigation tools.

V5 Wireframe & Surfaces

This course is an extension of the part environment and covers the use of wireframe and surface geometry to create complex contours.  This course concentrates on the tools available and how to integrate this geometry back into a solid part.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to create and modify wireframe geometry; create and modify surface geometry; perform operations on this geometry; analyze curves and surfaces and utilize this geometry to create parts.

V5 Drafting

This course covers the creation of engineering drawings.  Students will be introduced to the drafting environment of CATIA V5 and learn how to create drawings from parts and products.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to create and modify views; create, generate and modify dimensions; create and modify annotations and symbols; create 2D geometry and create title blocks or backgrounds.

V5 Functional Tolerancing & Annotation

This course is for those interested in model based definition, where the 3D model is the master instead of the draft sheet.  This course covers all of the necessary options to properly apply tolerancing and annotations on the 3D part or product.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to create views; any geometrical or dimensional tolerance and annotation necessary to convey the design intent of the 3D part using both manual techniques and the tolerancing advisor; create captures to organize those specifications; filter the specifications; and create reports.
